registered port
registered port definition - telecom
A port that can be used by ordinary user processes or programs on most systems and can be executed by ordinary users. Registered port assignments, numbered in the range 1,024 through 49,151, are used with the User Datagram Protocol (UDP) to the extent possible. Registered ports are registered by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) as a convenience to the Internet community.
