  1. The longer of the two signal elements in Morse code, created by closing an electrical circuit with a mechanical key for a relatively long period of time. An audible dash is a long click or buzz, known as a dah to radio telegraph operators, and is graphically represented as a short horizontal line --. See also dot, Morse code, and telegraph.
