syn·des·mo·sis (sĭnˌdĕz-mōˈsĭs)
noun pl. syn·des·mo·ses (-sēz) A form of fibrous joint in which opposing surfaces that are relatively far apart are united by ligaments. Also called syndesmodial joint.
