Lyme disease (līm)
an acute, recurrent, inflammatory disease caused by a spirochete (Borrelia burgdorferi) transmitted by certain ticks (esp. Ixodes dammini), characterized at first by a skin rash, headache, fever, etc. and later by arthritis, neurological damage, and cardiac abnormalities
