A trained securities salesperson authorized to take orders for securities from the general public and paid a commission on what she sells. After six months or more of training and after having passed tests prepared by the National Association and Securities Dealers and the New York Stock Exchange, that person is registered with the various stock exchanges, and licensed by the state(s) in which she plans to do business.
