examiner definition - finance
An individual who may be appointed by a bankruptcy court with duties limited to conducting an investigation of specified acts and business affairs of the debtor. The appointment of an examiner does not change the status of a debtor who remains in control of the property of the estate during the Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.
