equity capital markets department

equity capital markets department definition - finance
A department in an investment bank that is the intermediary between the firmÂ’s investment banking activities, which include debt and capital raising and merger advice, and the firmÂ’s traders. Because the firmÂ’s investment bankers may be working on confidential deals that could cause turmoil in the markets, the equity capital market department serves as a buffer between the bankers and the market traders.
