image advertising

Promotion that attempts to influence public perception of a company, a brand, or a product. For example, a petroleum company may place advertisements touting all of the actions being undertaken by the firm to maintain a clean environment. These advertisements are designed to enhance the image of the company. Also called institutional advertising.
